Description

A simple makeover on a childhood favorite! These Whole30 crispy baked fish sticks and tartar sauce are made with real ingredients and so delicious! Made in under 30 minutes, this baked fish stick recipe is sure to please the whole family!

Ingredients

Scale

For the breading:

1/4 cup almond flour

1/4 cup tapioca flour

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon pepper

For the fish sticks:

2 pounds wild caught Alaskan cod

1 egg

For the tartar sauce:

1/3 cup mayo

1/4 cup chopped pickles

1 teaspoon lemon juice

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 pepper

Instructions

Prepare your oven. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (If you can do convection, preheat to 400 degrees F – convection will make your fish sticks crispier!)

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spray with a neutral cooking oil like avocado.

Prepare your fish sticks. In a shallow bowl, combine all of the breading ingredients. Mix until thoroughly combined. In a separate shallow bowl, whisk egg with a splash of water. Slice cod into sticks, approximately 1/2 inch thick.

Take each fish stick and dip in the egg mixture, allowing excess egg to drip off before placing into the breading. Using a clean hand, coat the fish sticks with the breading and place on your prepared baking sheet. Continue to do this until all fish sticks are coated.

Spray the top of the fish sticks with a neutral cooking oil.

Bake fish for 6 minutes. Flip the fish and bake for another 6 minutes. Broil for 1-2 minutes to crisp.

Make the tartar sauce. While the fish is cooking, combine all of the tartar sauce ingredients together and mix to combine.

Serve fish sticks with a squeeze of lemon and tartar sauce!
