T-minus one week until Thanksgiving! YES YES YES YES YES.

Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday because… obviously, the food. I’m hosting for the first time this year and am a little overwhelmed to be honest. Dinner won’t be happening until 3 or 4, but everyone will be arriving by noon.

The Bears play on Thanksgiving this year, which means we are going to need snacks for the game! And I’ve got just the thing…

A Crudité Platter!!

A crudité platter is essentially a gorgeous veggie plate with some additional snacks if you’re lucky… and today, you are lucky! So let’s talk about the three steps to making the perfect crudité platter.

The Vegetables

The vegetables are the star of the show in a crudité platter. Make sure you pick a variety of vegetables in shape, size and color! And always try and pick seasonal veggies too. I opted for rainbow carrots, snow peas, heirloom cherry tomatoes, persian cucumbers, yellow squash and green bell peppers.

The Add-Ins

This is where things get fun! I mean, you can go wild and crazy with your add-ins.

  • cheese and crackers!
  • dips!
  • nuts and olives!

I opted for grilled, marinated artichokes. I love the meatiness of artichoke heart and the olive oil they are marinated in makes them really smooth and savory – such a good compliment to fresh, crisp vegetables.

And my second add-in is the KEY to making this crudité platter perfect for your pre-Thanksgiving table. Safe Catch Foods new Italian Herb Wild Pink Salmon!

Here’s the deal, vegetables don’t fill me up… and I’m a firm believer in not starving yourself before the big meal, but by smart snacking instead. For me, that means I need protein. Protein fills me up and keeps me full, which is perfect for a pre-Thanksgiving dinner snack when no lunch is involved.

Each packet comes pre-marinated so you can just open the pouch and serve. And it is loaded with 18 grams of protein and 4 grams of healthy fat.

Just spread the marinated tuna on crackers or scoop up with some sliced squash!

Make it Pretty!

I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase, ‘you eat with your eyes first’ – and it couldn’t be more true! That’s why we (cough cough, ‘I’) look for recipes online, follow food bloggers on Instagram, and scour Yelp pictures before we try a new restaurant.

Making the crudité platter is actually easier than you think.

Start by placing your bowls of add-ins on a platter. Then arrange the vegetables around the bowls and work your way out to the edges, alternating vegetable colors and shapes!
