Premier protein, frozen banana, peanut butter, and cold brew. Make this 4 ingredient chocolate protein shake and you’ll be on your way to the 2020 Olympics!
You guys. I am SO into the Olympics. Why can’t they happen every year?? I’ve been watching a lot of swimming and gymnastics because, well… Katie Ledecky (obvi) and Michael Phelps (obvi x2) just dominate the pool (P.S. did you see this picture of the two of them together when Katie was just 9 years old?!) and obviously (x3) the women’s gymnastics team. Damn those girls are strong!
I am just incredibly blown away by Olympic athletes. They literally have spent their entire lives, though for some that is not that long, preparing for this single moment. Can you imagine the pressure?! The pressure on the athlete and their poor parents who have to sit and watch… Did you see Aly Raisman’s parents when she was on the uneven bars? They knew every single twist and turn to her routine and practically moved with her in the stands. And they looked like they were about to have a heart attack.
Turns out, I do the same thing… minus the almost having a heart attack. During the swim races, I start leaning my body toward the right, subconsciously pushing the swimmers to the finish line. And I haven’t noticed this, but Pat said that when I am watching gymnastics, my head moves in little circles as if I was following the gymnasts as they are tumbling.
I guess, you could say that I’m into it. I guess.
What is the craziest thing about Olympic athletes is their diet. Can you imagine eating 8000 calories per day? So insane. But I guess when you are training and competing at that level, it is all about providing your body with the nutrients it needs to serve you.
Over the past few years, I have made it a point to listen to my body and what it needs. For me, I need protein – most especially on days that I lift. My favorite way to refuel after a lifting session is with this 4 ingredient chocolate protein shake. It’s simple, delicious, and can be made in under 5 minutes.
It starts with a frozen banana. I always have frozen banana chunks in my freezer and this if my favorite way to use them! Once the banana starts to looks like Dippin’ Dots (man, I miss those!), add in your chocolate Premier Protein shake. This is my favorite kind of protein shake. If you have a favorite powder, just add in a scoop of that and 1 cup of almond milk. Next goes the peanut butter and cold brew – blend away!
Drink this 4 Ingredient Chocolate Protein Shake and you’ll be on your way to the 2020 Summer Olympics! If you make this shake or any of my recipes, don’t forget to post a picture social media and use the hashtag #imhungrybynature for a chance to be featured!

Adding cold brew to my protein shakes was a game changer!
Can I use hot brewed coffee? I dont have any cold brew and I wanted to try this tomorrow. Thank you 😃
Totally! The shake will not be as thick because you’ll want to add more coffee than 1/4 cup, but you can definitely do it!
I know this may sound so stupid but what is cold brew?
Not stupid at all! It’s just iced coffee. I like to buy the iced coffee concentrate from trader joes, but any kind will work! And if you don’t like iced coffee, you could always sub another liquid – almond milk or even water would work!
Thank you for sharing this recipe. I love it! These ingredients taste great with the caramel flavored shake too!
