These 3 ingredient brownie bites are made with dates, hazelnuts and cacao powder – making these sweet treats paleo, gluten free, dairy free, and vegan.
Hi. Hello! How are you?!
Gosh I am exhausted. For the first time in 6 weeks I am going to be home for more than 5 days straight. I’ve been incredibly busy lately and my energy levels have been dropping. But I’m home and have 11 days of sleeping in my own bed. Thank goodness!
First of all, THANK YOU to all of you who already filled out my reader survey. I sincerely appreciate your responses and you being here. For those who have not filled it out yet, would you? You can get the link to the survey HERE. It will only take 3 minutes and your answers will help me create better content for you!
One thing that your answers have showed me is that you are looking for more easy and healthy snacks – and you are in for the easiest today!
10 minutes and a food processor are all that stands between you and these 3 ingredient brownie bites.
To be honest, I had no intention of posting this recipe on the blog. I have a hard time even calling this a recipe because it is so easy. But you guys want EASY and HEALTHY and REAL food, so here it is.
I ran out of coconut fat balls one day last week – one of the two days I was actually home. And I knew I needed to make some more energy bites to have before my workout the next morning, as an afternoon pick-me-up, and for snacks to have in the car on our road trip to Minnesota.
In my cupboard I found half a bag of hazelnuts and decided to just go for it. Into the food processor went those hazelnuts, dates, and cacao powder. And out of the food processor came these brownie bites!
Don’t they look fabulous?! They are chewy and fudge-y, just like I like my brownies. And nutella-y (p.s. that is a word… I just made it up) from the hazelnuts and cacao. If you’re looking for me, I’ll be snacking on these all week!
Tell me: What are you snacking on this week?

nommmm! these look great Ellie and so easy! I find it really hard to make easy snacks, mainly because I’m lazy but these would be perfect to make and freeze!
Thanks Georgie – and are CRAZY easy. Some times my best snacks are founded out of laziness 😉
You can never go wrong with A) 3 ingredients B) Brownies and C) BITES… balls 😉
Agreed. Agreed. Agreed!!
I love that you posted something so easy, because it’s not intimidating even for someone who doesn’t like to cook. And I’m so glad you get some time at home; I can’t imagine going, going, going like that for so long! You must be tired. 🙂
Exactly – thanks Emily! And thank you 🙂 I love traveling, but it is exhausting and I love my time at home so it feels extra good to be back!

Hi Mark! Thank you SO much for your sweet comment – I am beyond happy you love them and happy you found me! Hopefully you will find my other recipes just as delicious 🙂
What can we use instead of dates?
Hi Ann! You can definitely sub any other dried fruit – maybe one that has as similar moisture content… apricots, prunes, figs, or raisins! You could also do a mixture of honey and a flour like almond or coconut!
Do the hazelnuts have to be raw?
Definitely not – roasted would be great too!
