The quintessential dessert drink, the White Russian, is our next libation to be paired with some lyrics that are just as silky smooth – The Neighbourhood’s “Sweater Weather” off their debut album “I Love You”.
We made it through the week, so I’m serving you a drink – you definitely deserve it!
How was everyone’s week?! Mine was mostly spent in Houston for work. It was wonderfully warm and I was able to see some family; so mine was pretty good. Were you following along on my Instagram stories? I had some awesome recommendations on places to eat and workouts to try. My favorite was a megaformer class at HIP Fitness and all the gluten free options at Local Foods and Ruggles Green.
I hope you are enjoying this Lyrics & Libations series as much as I am. It’s been really fun for me because I get to show you a glimpse into what Friday night is like in my house. And L&L is a fun way for Pat to get involved with you!
Here is what he had to say about the White Russian…
The White Russian is the perfect drink for when you’ve just finished your third plate of rump roast and stuffing and need to wrap up the meal with a little something sweet; but your pants that were originally non-elastic, now seem to be. This whole album, and Sweater Weather in particular, is the musical form of that. Even as you stir your cream into the Kahlua it looks like clouds forming and swirling, just like the album cover art.
Go ahead and have one more dollop of potatoes and stuffing, you’ve earned it.
I should tell you that on Friday night’s we don’t eat rump roast and stuffing. In fact, I rarely cook on Friday’s. We tend to order or pick up something pretty healthy for dinner; but Pat will certainly pour us a drink.
White Russian’s are the perfect drink because they double as dessert. I like to sub in almond milk for the heavy cream; but it’s Friday so YOU DO YOU.
Cheers to the weekend!
